Photograph

A piece of paper to hold it all
A piece of paper but not paper at all
For pictures dance upon the surface Imprinting faces, that’s its purpose

A little square to hold the view
A little square to show to you
So that you can see the sight I saw
Perhaps you’ll see beauty’s core

A sheet so thin is precious, you see
A sheet so thin is important to me
You can never relive a single moment
So I’ll hold it in this piece of parchment

A poster polaroid for my frame
A poster polaroid to ignite my flame
To feel the colour layed before me
I feel a spark from all its glory

A piece of paper to hold it all
A piece of paper but not paper at all
For pictures dance upon the surface
Holding wonder, that’s its purpose.

  4. Artfully expressed; you convey beautifully the unparalleled power photos have to transport both us and others.

Sufficiently evocative to effect this change years later. Every once in a while, uncovering an old photo brings us emotionally, and sometimes almost physically, to a different place, occasionally even changing who we are for the moment.

Imagine the sway they hold over others. Of course, you already know this, don’t you?
